Hey guys I'm certainly not new to sports wagering. And I may know much more about soccer than the average American. But it was years ago that soccer was a part of my life and I didn't gamble then.

Anyway I have recently become involved with betting the Premiership and I'm doing surprisingly well and see it as following form rather nicely.

So I am a bit embarrassed to ask this question but I must. Pinny shows these numbers "pick and -0.5 and pick and +0.5". Embarrassed to admit I don't know what this means. Need to know. Thanks.

Another question please. Would putting in as much work into MLS yield the same handicapping result as I seem to be getting in my early returns in Premiership.

Thanks a bunch for your help in advance. Also I like Newcastle to bounce back today at home in the derby match. Middlesboro is a banged up side itself now. Any thoughts?

pk means draw no bet - ie. if it's a draw you get your money back.

-0.5 means you are backing a team -0.5 goal, ie. the same as taking the 90 min price.

backing a team +0.5 means you win if the match is a draw or your team wins.

-1 means you get your money back if your team wins by 1 and win the bet if your team wins by 2 or more.

pick and -0.5 means half your money is on pk and half is on -0.5

same with -0.5 and -1 - half is on -0.5 and half on -1.

i don't met mls but would guess that it's easier to win on than the english premeirship as there aren't so many sharp bettors. but not so many firms bet on it so the pricing won't be so competitive.

Those numbers explained by Abe are called asian handicaps. This is because it is the way asians like to bet soccer. It is a bit like applying a point spread to an NFL game to give two wagering options around +100.

I agree that handicapping the MLS may prove easier than the premiership. The books take millions each week on the premiership so they have there sharpest guys spending the most time setting lines for it.

The MLS will hardly attract any wagering action so books tend not to be too bothered about setting the lines. I would guess if you followed the league closely you would become more knowledgable about MLS than the books and be able to identify value. BOL.

I would only add that some bookies, instead of givining line:
"pick and -0,5" and " pick and +0,5" will give -0,25 +0,25 line, which means exactly the same

half your bet is at PICK & half your bet is at -5.

if you bet 'Pick/ -.5"

& the game ends in a Tie, you lose half your bet, the other hald is refunded...

it is kind of like making 2 bets....
